Travertine is not generally recommended for kitchen countertops. Travertine is much softer than quartzite and granite, It scratches easily. Travertine is naturally full of holes it absorbs spills quickly, leading to stubborn stains.
If you love the soft, creamy, textured look of travertine, but need durability, consider honed marble-look quartzite or leathered granite .
