Origin

The Jura limestone is explored in the Upper Bavaria region, which is located in the south part of Germany. Despite several people describing this stone as a marble, the Jura is technically a limestone. It is a hard limestone, but still a limestone. But it is also commonly accepted as a marble.

Main types

There are two main types of Jura limestone available in the market: beige colour and grey colour. The beige coloured Jura presents a thin to medium grain and non-uniform background. It is mostly characterized by the presence of strong signs of fossils with darker colour, sparsely distributed throughout the stone surface. Its grey variation presents similar characteristics, but with a grey colour.

Most common applications

The Jura limestone is a fairly hard limestone that is mostly used on flooring, coverings and cladding applications. This limestone has gained its reputation for its durability, hardness and favourable technical properties, specially if compared with similar limestones.
