Polished - generally gloss levels should be 90 + as measured by a gloss meter. In black granite, it should be like a mirror. To achieve this, final polishing should have been done by tin-oxide.
Non-slip surfaces - like semi-polished, flamed or textured are suitable for areas prone to heavy walking traffic. Such surfaces can also be used to contrast with polished ones.
Sawn - i.e. unpolished. It is not advisable to buy this way because:
1, floor polishers do not give as good a polish as factory machine polishers.
2, many defects are not visible easily before polishing
