Marble is derived from the Latin word 'Marmar' which comes from the Greek root 'Marmarous' meaning a shining stone. Marble is a nonfoliated metamorphic rock resulting from the metamorphism of limestone.
The Light Emperador is a light brown colored marble, with fine grain and abundant irregular and crossed yellowish veinage. It presents some occasional white calcite with small do medium dimension. Its main variations depend on the honey tonality that it can be more or less dark and uniform.
The genuine Light Emperador presents some clear white areas (called pearls).
But because of the advanced age and exploration of quarries, it has become a rarity. In terms of hardness, the Light Emperador is considered a hard natural stone.
Commercially, marble is any crystalline rock composed predominately of calcite, dolomite or serpentine, having 3-4 hardness, which can be excavated as blocks and can be sawn into marble slabs and marble tiles.
The types of applications that have given the most credit to this marble are found in interior decoration such as fireplaces, diverse furniture, bathroom design (basins and basin tables), and kitchen countertops.
It is also common to find applications in both interior and exterior flooring, coverings and some stonework.
Due to its international recognition, the Light Emperador is one of the natural stone with higher demand on the international market.
Its amazing and unique colour and veinage have also helped to build such a good reputation.
The light brown colour of the Light Emperador can be perfectly combined with darker natural stones or with different coloured stones (such as red, blue and others).
Physically, light emperador is recrystallized, hard, compact, fine to very fine grained metamorphosed rocks capable of taking shining polish.
