Cut Marble Tile

Learning how to cut marble tile is a great skill to acquire that will not only help speed up your project, but will cut down on costly mistakes. Adding ad floor, wall or other decorative accent to your home will enhance its beauty while increasing its value. However, you cannot use the same cutting tools for ceramic tile when using marble tiles.


You need to use a wet saw and since this is a specialized tool, more than likely the best way to obtain one is to rent it on a daily basis from a tool rental center. Make sure to follow all directions operating the wet saw including wearing the appropriate protective eyewear and gloves.
Step 1 - Learn How to Use the Saw

Read all operating instructions accompanying the saw and make sure it works properly before proceeding. Always check the water sprayer making sure the stream hits the blade when the saw is running.

Step 2 - Measurements

Make all accurate measurements on your marble tiles using small strips of masking tape as your cut guide.

Step 3 - Make the Cut

Place your marble tile on the wet saw platform making sue the water sprayer is working and then slowly bring the blade down cutting the tile. Make sure to work slowly to ensure safety as well as wearing gloves and protective eyewear. Always keep fingers away from a spinning wet saw blade.

Step 4 - Snip It

There will be tiny pieces evident along the edges of cut marble tiles. Remove these with your tile snippers by exerting enough pressure on the snippers to break off these small pieces from the marble tile. Be careful, taking your time to correctly remove these pieces.
