The Crema Marfil is a Spanish beige coloured marble from Spain with a considerable demand worldwide. This is perhaps the marble with most demand on the international market, specially in tile form. Variations

There are many variations of Crema Marfil being currently extracted from different quarries. To begin with, there are the Zafra and Coto areas, where the large majority of Crema Marfil is extracted. But there are also other areas with Crema Marfil quarries, that will extract different variations. And in each one of these areas and quarries, several specific variations are extracted, or better known as grades. A common standard for grading Crema Marfil is:

1.Basic: the lower grade and cheapest

2.Classic: also a lower grade, but with more selection

3.Commercial: the most common grade, which can also have several grades within, such as Commercial A, B and so on.

4.Standard: which is a high grade, in most cases at a competitive price and with good selection

5.First: the highest grade and most expensive. This is the top selection of Crema Marfil and quantities are not so large, and normally take longer to produce.


Tiles dimensions

There are many differente dimensions for tiles, depending on market, project, etc etc. However, there are some international standard dimensions to be considered:

- 60x60cm: standard size, but with a higher price due to slabs height limitation. This dimension gives more waste on the manufacturing, therefore price is higher.

- 60x40, 60x30, 30x30 or 40x40cm: standard dimensions, a bit smaller than the 60x60cm, easier to manufacture, therefore cheaper.
- And any other cut-to-size or non-standard dimensions, such as 80x80, 100x50cm and so on.


Finishings

The Crema Marfil can accept several types of finishings. However and in terms of tiles, the most common finishings available are:

- Polished: the one that most enhances the beautiful colour of the stone

- Aged/tumbled: gives a rustic and warm look to the stone

- Sandblasted: with a good anti-slippery capacity, maintaining the cream colour.

- Brushed: beautiful rough surface, but smooth.
