Indian granite and marble exports in 2021

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 did not affect India's exports of processed granite and granite blocks and slabs. On the other hand, marble blocks and slabs exports were adversely affected.

The table below shows the changes () in the export value of granite and marble blocks and slabs and processed granite and marble exports between 2019 and 2020:

The statistics show that the positive trend in 2020 continued in 2021, with India recording a five-year record in export value of granite and marble blocks and slabs and processed granite and marble exports. Processed marble exports recorded a five-year-high.

In comparison, the growth in marble blocks and slabs exports was not enough to surpass the high levels of 2017. The table below shows the changes () in the export value of granite and marble blocks and slabs and processed granite and marble between 2020 and 2021:

Indian Granite and Marble Exports Growth in Value 2020 - 2021

The table above shows that the rise of processed granite and marble is much higher than that of granite and marble blocks and slabs. There was an increase in the average price per tonne of granite blocks and slabs, while the cost of processed granite remained marginally stable.

Finally, a decline in prices was recorded for marble blocks and slabs while the prices of processed marble increased.
